The World is Addicted to Search

Updated: Sep 28, 2018

This screenshot from www.internetlivestatistics.com shows over 3 Billion Google searches by 12:30 pm CST

That's right. Over Five Billion times each day there is someone around the world asking a search engine to help them find something. That equates to 50,000+ search queries for each second on the clock, non-stop. That's a lot of searching going on.

So, Captain Obvious, what's your point, you say? Well, that's a no brainer. It's easy to see that Search is Critical to our current lifestyle. Imagine, just for a second, not being able to look anything up anymore. It would drive us crazy and we run around like we don't know what a street sign or map is, or how to contact someone without an assistant. It's nuts, but it's reality. However, it is very good news for us search technology geeks and anyone working in this industry. We are in a very good position to prosper from this incredible hunger for information.

Here is another incredible statistic to mull over... According to google as well as other sources, it is estimated that there is over 300 times as much information NOT cataloged on a public search engine, as there is already indexed. Did you hear that? Did I just say one-third of 1% is how much google and other search engines contain of all the data in the world? YES> The amount of information available on the internet has a 30,000% growth potential (300 x). So, will people stop using search? NO. Will the usage go down? NO.

The only way online search does not continue to grow is if the internet ceases to exist. We'll deal with that when the time comes. Meanwhile, enjoy using AgSearch.us to look up anything Ag-Related and don't forget we are different than google in the fact that we use human help, not bots, we do not sell external advertising, we keep your private information private and we are tailored specifically to Agriculture.
