Statement of Faith for First Baptist Church

We believe in the Trinity of God the Father, God the Sun, and God the Holy Spirit: three distinct persons yet one God, eternally existent.  Matthew 28:19; Hebrews 13:8

​

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God, our Savior and Lord. Hebrews 1:3

​

We believe that when we come to know Christ, the Holy Spirit lives in us and through us.  We are then regenerated and equipped to live a Godly life. 2 Corinthian 5:17; Acts 1:8

​

We believe the Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God, our authority in all matters. 2 Timothy 3:16

​

We believe that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

​

We believe that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins. John 3:16

​

We believe that all people will be raised by Christ, both the saved and the lost.  The saved will be resurrected to eternal life in heaven, and the unsaved will be resurrected to eternal punishment in hell. Matthew 25: 31-33, 46

​

We believe in the sanctity of marriage (one man and one woman) and family as defined by God's Word. Mark 10: 6-9

​

We believe in the sanctity of life (life begins at conception) and natural death as defined by God's Word. Psalm 139: 13-16

​

We believe that God answers prayer. 1 John 5: 14-15

​

We observe two ordinances: believers baptism by immersion - Matthew 3: 13-17 and Acts 22:16,  and the Lord's Supper - 1 Corinthians 11: 23-29

​

We believe all Christians are called to share Christ's love with others, act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly. Matthew 28: 19-20, Micah 6:8

Final Authority of Matters of Belief and Conduct

​

This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs.  The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God, speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind.  It is the sole and final source of all that we believe.
